Steve Spencer

Steve spent most of his adult life serving in the Army Medical Services. He qualified as a nurse before becoming a clinical physiologist and latterly a manager.

Together with his wife Fiona, and daughters Debbi and Rachel, Steve has been worshipping at Pip 'n Jim's since 1987. He became a Lay Reader in the early 1990's then on leaving the army he trained for the ministry through a part time course at Oak Hill Theological college. After ordination in 1998 he returned to Pip 'n Jim's to serve as a curate in a non-stipendiary capacity.

In 2004, Steve was appointed as a Chaplain at the Medway Maritime Hospital, a direction which he sees as a natural progression from his years in healthcare. In 2009, Steve became the Senior Chaplain at the Hospital and leads the chaplaincy work there.

Steve’s main focus of ministry is the hospital, however he continues to serve as a curate and member of staff at Pip & Jim’s, working in support of Martyn and David.

Steve enjoys woodturning, DIY, music, reading and a devotion to curry!
