Sunday Worship
What to expect?
We understand that it can be a daunting experience to visit a church for the first time. You might have lots of questions - "Will people talk to me? What should I wear? Will I look out of place? Do I have to give money? Is it OK if I don't agree with what's being said? We try to make our services as friendly and accessible as possible for people of all backgrounds, whether you've been coming to church for years, or if its your first time.
The service
When you come in to the church, there's usually someone on the door to welcome you and give you the notice sheet for the week. Occasionally you may be given an 'Order of Service' as well depending on the kind of service that you are attending. However, on Sunday mornings and evenings, we most frequently project all the words using big screens so all you need to do is follow along.
Each service will include a time of sung worship led by one of our music groups, there will be a reading from the Bible, a talk, and opportunity for the church to pray together. Sometimes there is also an opportunity for people to talk about what God's been doing in their lives.
The talk will usually last around 20 to 30 minutes, and if you're particularly interested in what's been said then there's always the chance to chat and pray with someone after the service. In total, you can expect the whole service to last around 90 minutes (depending on what takes place that particular week).
Holy Communion
We celebrate Holy Communion (the sharing of bread and wine) once a week, alternating between the morning and evening services. These services are slightly longer than morning or evening praise, and the service leader will usually wear robes.
If you are a Christian in good standing with your local church, then you will be welcome to share in Holy Communion with us. If you are unsure whether to take communion, you are very welcome to speak with one of the service leaders before the service to talk about your circumstances and what might be most appropriate.
If you'd rather not take communion, you can either go up to the communion table and the service leader will pray for you, or you can stay where you are and join in sung worship as the music group lead.
After the service
After the morning services, we serve refreshments in the Church Hall, which is a good opportunity to meet new people, make friends and catch up with old ones!
